Rain on Stone Chawan

Taller than most chawan in this series, this piece has a more upright, cylindrical character that gives it a slightly formal presence. The glaze is a deep midnight blue that has run vertically during firing, creating fine striations that suggest falling rain or the grain of weathered wood. Where the glaze is thickest it is dark and glossy; where it thins toward the base, warmer tones of the clay emerge.

The rim is slightly irregular, a reminder of its hand-thrown origins. An elegant and considered piece.
