Dark Obsidian Vase

This small vase has the form of a seed or a raindrop — narrow at the neck, widening into an oval body that tapers back toward a small foot. The surface is dense charcoal-black, pitted and cratered across the belly where the glaze has blistered and cooled. The neck area warms to reddish-brown where a different glaze or firing effect has softened the darkness.

A vessel for one stem, or for nothing at all. The form is resolved enough to stand alone on a shelf without anything inside it.
