Sandy Earth Vase

Wide-shouldered and low-necked, this vase has the profile of a traditional Japanese storage jar — built to hold things, not just to be looked at. The glaze is golden-brown and sandy, with dark iron-brown patches where the fire settled differently. The texture is kairagi throughout, rough and pitted, pulling back from the clay in places.

It is a working form made beautiful by the kiln.
