Volcanic Rim Chawan
This chawan looks like it was pulled from the earth rather than made from it. The exterior is covered in a heavily textured, iron-rich glaze that has blistered and crawled during firing, creating a surface reminiscent of cooling lava or ancient stone. At the rim, a green ash glaze has dripped and pooled, creating a vivid mineral contrast against the deep reddish-brown body.
The interior is dark and raw, with traces of glaze running down the walls. The cylindrical form is sturdy and direct — this is a bowl with no pretensions, just presence.
