Tiger Stripe Chawan
Warm amber-gold covers the exterior of this wide, footed chawan, with dark brown striations running down from the rim in loose vertical bands. The striations catch where the ribbing from the wheel is still visible — the glaze has settled into the texture of the clay, highlighting the making rather than obscuring it.
The interior is warm and open, shown with a chasen at rest. The foot ring is pronounced and stable. Of all the chawans in the collection, this is one of the most immediately welcoming — the amber tones, the open form, and the evidence of handwork all working together toward something unhurried and generous.
