Old Mountain Chawan
Viewed from the back, this chawan reveals the full character of its surface — a richly textured landscape of dark olive, brown, and midnight blue glaze that has blistered and foamed during wood firing. The effect is genuinely geological: like looking at basalt or ancient lichen-covered stone.
The rounded form has a classic, unhurried shape, tapering gently to a modest foot ring that keeps the bowl stable. The interior is a deep, dark brown with a quiet gloss. This is a bowl for slow mornings and quiet ceremony.
