Broken Shore Chawan

Wide and open, with a rim that is deliberately rough and jagged rather than smooth — the edge catches and interrupts the light rather than letting it pass. The glaze is deep black-charcoal, the texture varied and uneven, like a rock face after weathering.

The interior is open and dark, absorbing. This is a chawan that doesn't try to be graceful.
