Iron and Ash Vase

A clear division marks this vase's surface: the upper half is warm iron-brown, and the lower half has been swept by ash deposits that leave a pale gray-white coating over the body. The boundary between the two is not a line but a gradation, the ash thinning and pooling unevenly as it falls.
