Small Wood-Fired Vase

A small wheel-thrown vase from an earlier period of the studio's wood-fired work. Small vases in this collection tend to emphasize the relationship between a simple, compact form and the complex surfaces that emerge from the wood kiln — ash deposits, iron flashing, and atmospheric marks that can't be replicated in an electric or gas kiln.
