Iron Stone Vase

This piece sits as low as a vase can while remaining a vase — nearly as wide as it is tall, with a large opening and a body that is close to spherical. The glaze is dark charcoal with copper and reddish-brown patches, and the surface has a worn, mineral quality, as if the piece has been exposed to weather for a long time.

In the hand it would be heavy for its size. On a shelf, it reads as an object between worlds — vessel and stone, made and found. A piece for someone who does not need things to announce themselves.
