Lidded Jars

A lidded jar is a small act of concealment — whatever is inside is protected, set apart, given a home. At the domestic scale of a garlic jar or a salt crock, the form becomes part of the kitchen: something you reach past a dozen times a day and occasionally stop to look at. The lid is the technical challenge and the detail that makes or breaks the piece — it has to fit well enough to feel satisfying, loose enough to lift with one hand, and considered enough to look like it belongs. Each lidded jar in this collection is wheel thrown in two parts and wood-fired, the knob and lid trimmed to sit flush with the body. The glazes are mixed from local materials and carry the marks of the kiln — no two jars come out the same.
